What We Do

PubRescue (https://pubrescue.com) is a free online tool that helps you convert Microsoft Publisher (.pub) files when you do not have Publisher installed — or when Publisher itself will not open or save your file.

We focus on practical outcomes:

• Convert .pub files to PDF and Word (where available)
• Preview conversion results with per-page thumbnails on the results screen
• Surface risks early with an automated health-check report — including font warnings, layout notes, and related quality signals — so you know what to review before printing or sharing

Our goal is to be honest, fast, and useful — not to promise perfection.

Why PubRescue Exists

Publisher files are common in schools, churches, small businesses, and community groups — but .pub is not easy to open on every device. Many people search for help when:

• They receive a .pub attachment and cannot open it on a Mac or phone
• Publisher shows errors like "Publisher cannot save the file"
• They need a PDF for printing or sharing, but the original layout is hard to reproduce

PubRescue was built to address these real-world problems with a simple upload-and-convert workflow, clear error messages, and quality-check information that most generic converters skip.

How We Work

1. You upload a .pub file (up to 100 MB, 20 conversions per IP address per day on the free tier)
2. We process your file automatically — no human reads your document contents under normal operation
3. You download PDF, Word, and/or a quality-check report
4. Your files are deleted — automatically within 24 hours, or immediately if you click "Delete my files now" on the results page

We do not use your files to train AI or machine learning models. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

What We Promise — and What We Don't

We strive to:

• Preserve text and images where technically feasible
• Explain failures clearly (corrupt files, passwords, unsupported features, size limits)
• Provide actionable quality-check information alongside conversions

We do not promise:

• 100% conversion success for every file
• Pixel-perfect layout matching the original Publisher document
• That Word export will match PDF fidelity (Word export may be offered as Beta)
• Professional printing, legal, or design outcomes without your own review

Conversion is complex. Some Publisher features do not map cleanly to PDF or Word. Always review your output before use. See our Disclaimer for more.

Advertising and Sustainability

PubRescue is free to use. We support the service through advertising, including Google AdSense.

Ads appear in designated areas — for example, after conversion completes or within informational content — and are kept separate from download buttons. We do not use pop-up or pop-under ads on the conversion workflow.

Visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland can manage cookie preferences through our Google-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP) before non-essential cookies are set.

PubRescue is operated as an independent project. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Microsoft Corporation.

Microsoft, Publisher, Windows, and related marks are trademarks of Microsoft Corporation. All other trademarks are the property of their respective owners.

PubRescue is not a replacement for Microsoft Publisher. When possible, we recommend saving or exporting from Publisher directly for the most accurate results.
